Creating topography with contours
- In this video, we review the second of our two strategies for creating land forms. We're going to continue modeling our site, but this time we're using a set of contour lines as we see here. Now typically, these will be provided by a third party, maybe your client or instructor if you're in school. Ideally, these will be clean and simple. If not, you can always use Edit, Rebuild to reduce the control point count and simplify lines. I'm going to select mine, hit F10 and those are a little bit complicated, but I'm going to leave them as is. F11 to turn back off. Couple things to keep in mind, don't sweat any differences with these contour curves. Remember, these are every foot and even if something's off by a dramatic amount, it' only going to be a matter of a few inches. Also, when you get contour lines, they might come in perfectly flat. As I pan and zoom down here, you notice mine are already moved into the correct position. If yours are already flat, you may have to move them one…
