Learn about how a jet engine can be constructed by using a few simple curves, and about how profiles can be revolved to create the housing. Make one fan blade by sweeping one rail, and then array it around a polar axis to make 20 copies.
- [Instructor] Next up, I demonstrate…some simple steps for building a jet engine…for your favorite penguin spaceship.…You'll see as we build a very complex engine…from a surprisingly small set of commands and curves.…Let's start off by zooming in here to the back…where a bunch of curves are already made.…You might notice there is a line right here…down the center, that's pretty important.…It'll be our access for some of the operations coming up.…But first, let's work on this housing.…This is a single line, we want to have the double line…for the thickness of the housing,…so I'll go use the standard curve offset,…we can go to the curve menu here.…
Offset, offset curve.…Now, typically, it'll default to a number of one…or whatever the last value used, right here it says 10.…And we can go both sides.…We're going to try something a little bit different here.…I'm going to select ThroughPoint up on the command line.…And this lets me eyeball, or randomly pick any size I want,…but instead of doing that, I'm just going to actually snap…
