Basic ceilings are often ignored in Revit and sometimes outright discouraged. But there are some cases when their use could be just the thing that is called for. Use a basic ceiling when you have an open ceiling design and are trying to use ceiling-hosted content for lights and other items. The basic ceiling with its zero thickness will provide the host for the elements allowing the use of ceiling-hosted items.
