What you should know before watching this course

- [Instructor] So before you start this course, what should you know? Ideally, you should have a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows interface. That's normally a given nowadays but you should be able to work with things such as dialog boxes and buttons, and work with the mouse and the keyboard. When you're starting this course, we're expecting you to have an overall knowledge of basic Revit methodology. I'll be talking about Revit methodologies and terminology that a beginner might not understand. So if that's the case, make sure that you go and look in the library for some of the Revit essential training courses. Ideally, you should also be aware of the new construction techniques that are going on in the world right now, such as prefabrication, even 3D printing is use now in new construction techniques. And all of this technology is advancing very quickly. So as long as you've got a general awareness of those techniques, you'll be able to follow along with this particular course. Now be aware that this course is recorded using the latest version of Autodesk Revit, which is Revit 2021. Now the important thing there to remember is that Revit 2021 files are not backwards compatible. So I can't do a save as and save back to say, Revit 2020 or save back to Revit 2019. Because what Revit does is if it opens a new file in Revit 2021, it is a Revit 2021 file. If you open up an older Revit file in Revit 2021, it will upgrade it to the latest version. And as soon as you click on save, it becomes a 2021 file and you cannot save it back. So be aware of that. It's a really important thing that you should know before you take this course. Everything is based around Revit 2021.
