Using void forms

- [Instructor] Let's wrap up our look at the forms that are available in the Family Editor by looking at the void forms. So, we've covered each of the five forms, extrusion, blend, revolve, sweep and swept blend, but if you come over here to this drop down at the end, you can see that all five of those forms is also available as a void. Now, voids are just simply negative objects that actually cut away from the solid object. So sometimes you can build up your geometry additively, and other times you need to sort of carve away from it subtractively. Now there's a lot of reasons why you might do that. For example, maybe I want to cut a hole in this extrusion to bolt it back against the wall. Well, the extrusion is built this way along the parallel to the center line, but the bolts would run opposite of that in 90 degrees. So there really wouldn't be any way that I could edit the extrusion sketch to create holes. So even…
