Understanding the kinds of families

- So now that we have our general working definition of a family in really general terms, let's get a little bit more specific and talk about the different kinds of families. Because this is going to impact the kinds of families that we can manipulate and the ones we can't in the family editor. In other words, there are really two basic kinds of families that you need to concern yourself with. And them come down to the kinds you can edit, and the kind that you can't. So there really isn't a whole lot of point in us spending a lot of time talking about the ones that we can't edit because well, we can't edit them. They're built in. And those kinds of families in Revit are referred to as system families. So system families are built into the system, they're predefined, all of their behaviors are built-in and established already and you and I as users cannot change those behaviors, those characteristics, or really…
