Sketching Rebar

- We can actually sketch rebar to look any way we want. Yeah, let's do that. By sketching rebar, we are actually adding the dowels that pin two different concrete systems together, such as walls and footings, and walls and slabs. This'll be fun. Alright, let's jump into Revit. Let's open up our "Section: Typical Foundation Detail." Let's zoom in on the concrete wall. Let's go ahead and select. Let's click "Rebar." This time, let's "Sketch Rebar." They're gonna make us reselect the wall. Now we'll see all of our cover setting show up. I'm gonna zoom in here. I wanna pick a point like right about here. I'm gonna come straight over, I'm gonna come down at an angle, I'm gonna draw straight down to about there. Then I'm gonna hit "Escape" a couple times. Then I'm gonna click "Finish." We sketched in our rebar. Now go ahead and select your rebar. For the "Layout," instead of "Single" let's select "Maximum Spacing." Let's space it at "305mm" and hit "Enter." Notice now, we can still grip edit it. So I'm gonna grip edit that up a little bit. Maybe I'll grip edit this in a little bit. Hit "Escape" a couple times and we're doweled in. Let's do it again down here. I'm gonna select my foundation wall. I'm gonna click "Rebar." I'm gonna "Sketch Rebar." I'm gonna select my wall again. Let me draw a dowel in from here, I'm gonna come all the way down, I'm gonna draw my dowel all the way over to here. I'm gonna click "Finish." I'm gonna select my dowel. I'm gonna type "mm" to mirror it. I'm gonna pick my center line. I'm just gonna stretch it up a little bit. Gonna hit "Escape." Last thing I'm gonna do is select both of these dowels. My "Layout" will be "Maximum Spacing." We're gonna go "305mm." One more thing I'd like to do is I'm gonna grab all of my rebar that I've modeled. This bar, these bars, all of these, this, I'm gonna grab my dowel up top. Now, in my "Properties," I'm gonna scroll down until I find "View Visibility States" and I'm gonna click "Edit." What we can do is we can view this bar in any other view or not. If we scroll down, we'll see we have the two sections that it's gonna show up in. This is good, but if you want it to show up in any other sections or views, you would turn that on. The reason for this is rebar gets very messy when you're looking at it in a view that you don't care to see it. So let's just click "OK." I'd like you to know that that setting is there. Hit "Escape." You can save your model. There, now that really looks like a foundation detail.
