- [Instructor] Now we all know that the new Revit architecture professional certification exam is non version specific. This all happened when Certiport took over the professional examinations in February 2016, so all of your Revit examinations both certified professional and certified user are now non version specific. However, we need to address that when you're taking this course because it may be that you're all using different versions of Revit, and I'm sure that you are. So what we've done is we've saved all of the Revit project files for the Revit architecture professional certification prep course as Revit 2014 project files. Now the reason we've done this is purely because Revit is not backwards version compatible. If I open up a Revit project in Revit 2015 and I save it, I then cannot look at that project in Revit 2014. It will not let me look at a newer project in an older version of the software, so all of the project files that you can download from your exercise files location are Revit 2014 files. What this means is all of your Revit files that you're using for this course can be viewed in Revit 2014, Revit 2015, Revit 2016, and Revit 2017. Be aware though that when you open up a Revit 2014 file in, say, Revit 2016, you will get a little upgrade message, and when it's upgraded and you've saved it, it becomes a Revit 2016 file. You cannot go back to an older version, so just be aware of that. What I've got here is the Revit sample project file, and you can see the name of it at the top of the screen there, and I've just copied the standard Autodesk Revit basic sample project from Revit 2014. You can see here I go into the floor plans. If I double-click on level one there in the project browser, all of the information is there, but it's all Revit 2014, and that will be the same for all of your Revit projects throughout this course. Be aware of that. So don't try and use Revit 2013, for example, 'cause you won't be able to open the files. What we've tried to do is allow to go back all the way from the most current version, Revit 2017, all the way back to Revit 2014. That should cover most bases. Now obviously if you can't open these files because you've got a much, much older version of Revit, my suggestion there is that you contact your reseller and find out about upgrade paths and upgrading the software because Revit 2014 is quite an old piece of software. You're talking three, four years old. Now obviously you might have current projects on that particular version, but for this particular course, we're using Revit 2014 and upwards. So be aware of that when you open up the Revit project files.
