- [Voiceover] Okay, it's time to start adding some rebar. Couple things I'd like to do first, though. Let's go to our level one structural plan. I'm gonna zoom in on this section and I'm gonna open it up. Before I go any further, though, I want to rename the section. So I'm gonna scroll down in my project browser, and I want to drill into sections. Section one's not a great name, so I'm gonna right-click on section one, and I want to rename it. All caps, we'll just call it typical edge detail, and we'll click ok.
Now, what I'd like to do is go to my view tab, and I'm gonna click the callout button right here, and I'm gonna pick a window right around this foundation, just like this, and I'm gonna hit escape a few times. Now what I'm gonna do is double click on this callout bubble, and I'm gonna go over to my project browser, I'm gonna right-click, I'm gonna rename, and I'm going to call it typical foundation edge detail.
I'm gonna click ok. Now what I'm gonna do, is I'm gonna increase my scale. I'm gonna hit my scale flyout, and I'm gonna increase it to half-inch equals a foot. I'm gonna clean this up a little bit, so my top of footing, I'm gonna select this, I'm gonna turn it on over here, and I'm gonna turn it off over here. I'm gonna select my lines, and just pull 'em back a little bit.
Now what I'm gonna do, is I'm gonna add some reinforcing. So I'm gonna select this wall, I'm gonna come up here and I'm gonna click on my rebar button. This is all fine, so click ok. Now, the first placement I'm going to select is gonna be parallel to workplan. Your icons might look a little bit different because my resolution's a little bit different. So, I'm gonna click parallel to workplan, and I'm gonna come over to my wall.
Notice that I can hover over until I get to those dotted lines. This is our rebar cover. So if I hit escape a couple times and I select my wall, and if I scroll down, we'll see that I have rebar covers already set. So, again, I'm gonna select my wall, I'm gonna click on rebar, I'm gonna click ok, and I'm gonna come in here and I'm gonna pick a spot right here, I'm gonna pick a spot right here, and I'm gonna hit escape a couple times.
I'm gonna select my rebar by hitting my control key, I'm gonna grab both of these, and under my layout rule, instead of single, I'm gonna click my drop-down, and I'm gonna select maximum spacing. And my spacing's gonna be 12 inches, and now I have my vertical rebar in my wall.

4/13/2017Starting with referencing an architectural model, you'll learn how to add foundations, rebar, and framing; set up views and drawings; model slabs and trusses; and build a whole lot more. This course is designed for members with no Revit experience, or for more advanced users who want to jump to a topic and start from there. Either way, this comprehensive course will teach you what you need to know to be dangerous in Revit structure.
