- In this movie I want to talk about model lines.…Now model lines is a tool that's available…here on the architecture tab,…and we also have another tool here…on the annotate tab called detail lines on the annotate tab.…It's currently grayed out at the moment…because I'm in a 3D view, but in both cases,…those objects are lines.…In other words, they're two-dimensional shapes,…but the difference is that a model line,…as it's name implies, actually is considered…part of the model by Revit,…so it actually shows in all views.…A detail line, by contrast, only shows…in the view that you draw it in.…You're going to use them for different purposes.…
A detail line would be used just to…annotate the drawing or maybe add some detail…that you only want to see in a specific area,…but a model line you can actually use…to start representing real things in the model…that you just simply don't want to model in full-blown 3D.…Now the example that I want to focus on for this movie…is control joints in a brick wall.…There's plenty of other uses for model lines,…

5/28/2015Paul also shows advanced techniques for modeling stairs, complex walls, and partially obscured building elements, as well as adding rooms and solid geometry. Finally, discover how to annotate your drawing so all the components are perfectly understood, and learn how to output sheets to DWF, PDF, or AutoCAD.
