Maintaining fixed proportions with splines
- [Instructor] So I've got another scaling technique to share with you and this is a very specialized one. This one makes use of a built-in behavior of a spline element. Now we can use a spline element in most sketch mode based objects, so we could really use it in any of our solid forms, extrusions, blends, revolves, sweeps, even in profiles. So a spline is just a freeform curve and I'll show you how to create one here shortly. But one of the features of a spline is that it automatically maintains its shape and proportion when you scale it. So we don't have to do anything special to get that behavior. It's sort of like a built in superpower of the spline element. We're going to take advantage of that here in creating more of a freeform shape. So anytime you have something that's sort of organic in form, a spline can be a good choice for that. Now to illustrate this, I'm back in a Model Family.
