Introduction to the Family Editor

- [Instructor] There are two different locations where you can create a new Revit family from. The first is right after Revit opens up. You have Families, you can select on New. Then that'll open up another dialogue box, the new family select template file. Then, from here, you can select on any of these template files to create your own Revit family. Another way that you can get to the same dialogue box is to come up to the big R, highlight on New, and then select on Family, which will take you to the same location. What I want to do is now go into our Exercise Files folder, Chapter Six, and then open up the template file that's located there. It's actually the same file that's located inside of this folder; but in case you don't have that file available to you, you can always go into the Exercise Files, Chapter Six, and select on Generic Model, and click on Open.
