Inserting AutoCAD

- Sometimes you just cannot avoid using AutoCAD. That's fine, you can use it. You're aren't violating some BIM rule. By creating a drafting view at one to 20, we're gonna import an AutoCAD detail, then we're gonna drag it onto a drafting sheet. So to get started, let's jump into our structural model. Let's go to the View tab. This time, let's click on Drafting View. The idea here is, we're gonna make a completely blank sheet that we can just do anything with. Click Drafting View. For the name, we'll call it Typical CAD Detail, and for the scale, you have to know what the scale is of your AutoCAD drawing that you're bringing in. I'm a cheater, so I know that it's one to 20. Let's click OK. Now what we need to do is go to the Insert tab. Let's Import CAD. It's important to not Link CAD when you're doing this. Import your CAD, click Import CAD. Let's browse to where we're keeping our drawing file. Let's look at some choices. On the bottom, for colors, I want to go black and white. For…
