Industrialized construction in a nutshell
- [Instructor] In the previous few videos, I've gone through a few slides with you, talking about how building information modeling is being adopted by the UK, the USA, and other developed and developing countries around the world. Where does industrialized construction fit into this? Construction has always been seen as a very time-consuming and expensive workflow. What we need to bring into construction are industrialized workflows and processes. So let's go through a few points here. Build schedules can be cut in half. Engineering can be automated if construction takes on what they call a manufacturing mindset. We're talking like an assembly line. We're talking prefabrication, where prefabricated parts are put into a car engine, for example, on an assembly line. So the prefabrication of building modules, such as rooms, bathrooms, and other complex modules, will make industrialized construction become the norm when you're…
