Fabrication settings

- [VOICEOVER] So, new to Revit is the ability to turn normal ductwork and piping into fabrication parts. What this allows us to do is more accurately lay it out as if we were building it. To get started, I'm going to go to projects. I'm going to go to new, then I'm going to grab the mechanical template, then I'm going to click OK. Now that I'm in my model, what I'd like to do is create some ductwork. So, I'm going to go to my systems tab. I'm going to click on duct. I'm going to let my width and my height be 12 inches and my offset I'll keep at nine feet and I'll use rectangular duct, radius, elbows, Ts. So I'm just going to draw some duct. I'm going to go pretty far so I'm going to go 38 feet. Now I want to come up about 20 feet. Now my offset, I'm going to change it to four inches. I'm going to come in this direction. I want to have some drops. Now for my offset, I want to go nine feet again. I keep coming down. I'm going to pick a point here about six feet. Now I'm going to change my width and my height to something much larger, I'll go 24 by 24. Now I'm going to come over and I'm going to pick a point right about here. Now just come up a little bit to force an elbow in, beautiful. I'm going to escape a few times. Now what I'd like to do is under fabrication part, right here it says fabrication, I'm going to click on this little properties arrow right here for fabrication settings, so click the arrow. Now, as a default it's going to say none here. So what I'd like to do is click the drop down and if you're using Imperial or Metric, choose the version you want. I'm going to go with Imperial. Now it brings it in but it's unloaded services. So now what we need to do is bring all of our unloaded services over herr to our loaded services. So I'm going to click into here and I'm just going to hit control A on the keyboard. That's going to select all and I'm just going to come down here and I'm going to click the add button and now I'm going to hit OK. Now these services are loaded into our project. To look at them, under fabrication part, go ahead and click on the button right here. Now, we'll see that they're loaded. So what we have is a service and we have a group for that service. For example, we have ductwork, electrical stuff, piping stuff. Under the group if we keep it on ductwork and we click the drop down, we can have the different types of ductwork, we can have hangers and we can also have fire dampers. I'm going to go ahead and save this so I can use it later so I'm going to click my save button and just put it somewhere that makes sense to you. I'm going to call it mechanical. Now I'm going to go to my options. I just want to create one backup so I'm going to type in a 1. I'm going to hit OK, then I'm going to hit save. Now we can look at how to actually split the stuff up.
