- The devil is in the details, I think that's the term. Well, certainly how the mullion eventually gets manufactured is in the details. Of course, we can always just cut a section and start using 2D line work, but let's try something different. This video will demonstrate how to create a detail item that we will embed into our mullion family. From there, we'll load it into our model, and it will update all of our mullions. To get started, let's open up two models: our detailing mullions model and our custom mullions family. Let's create a new family by clicking the purple R, new, family. The type of family we want is going to be a detail item, go ahead and select detail item. Let's click open. Now, let's go over to our custom mullion, our FA file, and we're going to copy these lines. I'm going to hover over one of these lines, but not pick it. Then I'm going to hit my tab key, and it's going to highlight the entire perimeter. Once it highlights, I'm going to select it.
