Deleting layers in the imported or linked CAD file
- [Instructor] We're staying in our 04_Simple Building Project.rvt file and we've got our linked CAD file sitting there and it's selected, because it's highlighted in the blue. And because it's selected, you can see the contextual tab on the ribbon, in the green, and you can also see the Import Instance panel there. Now, we're going to look at deleting layers in our linked CAD file. Now, I haven't mentioned up 'til now that a linked CAD file in a Revit model is a bit like an xref in AutoCAD, using the .dwg files. Well, this is where I'm going to kind of dispute that a little bit, because if I make changes to the linked CAD file in the Revit model, it will not make any changes to the .dwg file that is being linked into Revit. The reason that it does that, it's more of a data link, rather than an xref, if you see what I mean. The data is already in the Revit model. It's linked and it's in the Revit model. And basically, what happens is, if I delete some layers in this linked CAD file…
