Creating a shaft opening
- Just because our walls run all the way through our building, that doesn't mean Revit doesn't know how to stop items such as floors, roofs, and ceilings to stop at the shaft wells. That's where shaft openings come in handy. This video will have us creating what is called a shaft opening. Basically, we're going to model a void that surrounds our shaft wells. That way anything other than framing that passes through will be cut out. To get started, let's jump into our structural model. Let's go down to Level 1 in our structural plans. Let's zoom in on our shaft. Go to the structure tab. Go ahead and click on Shaft under the Opening panel. Now let's look at some of our properties. Base Constraint, let's send that down to Top Of Footing. Base Offset, type in a 0. For the Top Constraint, let's pass this all the way up to the Roof. And for our Top Offset, let's go -305. Let's click Apply. On your draw panel, go ahead and click on the Pick Lines button. Make sure the offset is 0. Let's go…
