Creating parametric ellipses

- [Instructor] Another really simple parametric form that we can create in the Revit Family Editor is a parametric ellipse. So, again, like we did in the previous video with the circle, it's important to understand mathematically what exactly an ellipse is. So, mathematically, an ellipse is sort of an oval shape that has two important points called foci, and these foci, or each of these focus points, are equidistant from the edges of the ellipse. In other words, if you were to draw lines, like so, and measure those distances and then draw another pair of lines, like so, and measure those distances, the sum would be the same all the way around the ellipse. So, that's mathematically what the definition of an ellipse is. Revit, however, is going to really think of the ellipse in terms of length and width. So, it still mathematically creates an ellipse, but the parameters that we're going to interact with are going to be these two axes, the long axis and the short axis. So, let's go ahead…
