Creating new materials

- [Instructor] Materials in Revit control the way that materials display, from everything from plan and elevation views, to the way things are rendered. Materials also could control the way that materials themselves are tagged inside of your different plan and elevation views. To create a new material, we first need to go to the Manage tab because we'll manage our materials. Then over toward the left hand side, select on Materials. That opens up the Material Browser. To create a new material, down toward the bottom of the screen over on the left-hand side, there's a gray circle with a blue plus. Select on that gray circle with the blue plus. Here you have two separate options. One option is to create a new material, and that allows us to create a new material from scratch. The second option is to duplicate a selected material. When I'm creating materials, I'm actually more likely to duplicate a selected material. An example of that might be glass. Glass can have different properties…
