Creating a gambrel roof
So, a barn. You open up this video because you want to make a barn roof or at least a barn shaped roof. Well, now that's kind of impossible in Revit. I'm just kidding. There are a few different directions we can take on this one, though. First, we can do it just like we added a Dutch or mansard by simply creating two separate roofs, or we can try a slightly different method, one that's kind of cool. This vide will have us doing a couple different things. First, we'll specify a 3D plane, then we're going to use that plane to extrude a sloped arc down the length of our building. We will then add a traditional gable, then we'll slope the gable forward creating one cool barn. So, to get started. In our Project Browser, under Floor Plans, let's go to our Roof level. The next thing we want to do, is create a reference plane. So, in the Architecture tab, let's go to the Reference Plane button. On the Draw panel, let's go ahead and click on the Pick Lines button.
