- [Instructor] I was reading one of my regular blog subscriptions recetly, Revit OpEd by Steve Stafford, good friend of mine. And he had a post there that I thought was really interesting and that I might want to share here in the series. So it was about changing a system parameter from type to instance, and this comes up, actually, from time to time when you're building family content and it actually can be quite a problem. If there's a built-in parameter that you like that you want to use for some purpose, but you want it to behave differently than how it was defined, the nature of a built-in parameter is that it's, well, built-in, which means that technically you can't really change it unless you know the workaround. That's what we're going to talk about. So what a lot of people end up resorting to is building a whole new parameter and then ignoring the built-in one, but that's not a great solution, right?
