View templates can save you from having a model that has gotten out of hand. I love this functionality of Revit. By making some visibility graphics changes to a view, we will get everything the way we want it in a view. The we will create a view template from that view. From there we will go and create an ugly view and automatically fix it by applying our template.
- [Narrator] What's great about Revit…is we can set up templates for our views.…Which means that we can maintain a good amount…of consistency throughout all of our views.…This really outshines AutoCAD…and any other drafting programs I've ever seen.…Under Projects, let's click Open.…Let's browse through where we're keeping our exercise files.…I'm gonna grab my Templates model…and I'm gonna click Open.…Now, I've deleted every predefined template that's in here.…
So what I'd like to do is I'd like to…go down to Power, Floor Plan, 1 - Power,…and I'm gonna zoom in over here…and this certainly is not a power plan.…So the first thing I'm gonna do…is I'm gonna to start to set my settings…to be the way I want to see them.…To begin with, I wanna set my detail level to Medium.…Now I want to go to my visibility graphics…and I want to turn some stuff off.…So, type v + g for visibility / graphics.…This is a power plan so I don't wanna see any lighting.…
Cable Trays' fine.…I don't wanna see Communication Devices.…Conduits are fine.…
