Join Paul F. Aubin for an in-depth discussion in this video Adding rooms, part of Revit 2018: Essential Training for Architecture (Metric).
- [Instructor] In this video,…we're going to look at the room object,…now a room objects actually represent…the real space that you occupy when you're inside…what we think of as a room.…But they're a little bit special…in the sense that they don't really behave…like all of the other model elements in our model.…Now they are model elements,…they do represent the actual occupied space, within a room,…it's just that graphically,…they're going to behave a little differently…than some of the other elements we've seen,…so let me demonstrate.…If I come over here to the Room and Area Panel,…here's the Room Button right here, R + M is the shortcut,…and I'm going to click that…and you'll see over here on this Tag Panel,…that the Tag on Placement Button is also lit up,…what that means is, when you move your mouse…into the drawing window, you're going to see this blue box,…that's the room, but you're also going to see that little…square with the word above it, that's the tag.…
If I were to turn this off,…I would only get the blue box,…

4/13/2017Paul also shows advanced techniques for modeling stairs, complex walls, and partially obscured building elements, as well as adding rooms and solid geometry. Finally, discover how to annotate your drawing so all the components are perfectly understood, and learn how to output sheets to DWF, PDF, or AutoCAD.
