Adding foundation walls

- It's time to start thinking foundations. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about foundations are foundation walls. What this video has us doing is setting up a foundation wall thickness, then adding it to the base of our model underneath the exterior architectural walls. So to get started, let's jump into Revit. Let's open up our structural model. Under structural plans, let's go down to level 1. Let's turn our architectural underlay back off. So let's scroll down to Revit links. Right-click on architectural.rvt. Let's unload it. Let's click OK for Unload Link. Now, let's go ahead and start popping in some foundation walls. To do that, let's go to Structure. Let's click on the Wall button. Let's see what we have in our properties. Let's grab Foundation 300 Millimeter Concrete. Let's click Edit Type, Duplicate. Now let's call it Foundation 457 millimeter. And get rid of the 2. Let's click OK. And for the structure, let's click edit. For the thickness, let's type 457. Let's click OK. Now, let's click OK. Now the base constraint, instead of level 1, I want to hit the drop down, and let's go Top Of Footing. The top constraint is up to level, level 1. For the base offset, let's type in a 0, and hit enter. Now it's a matter of finding where we want our walls. Let's zoom in on column line F1. I'm going to pick a spot right here, and start drawing it straight up. I'm going to go to A1. I'm going to come down to 6A. I'm going to come down to column line B. Make sure when you zoom in, just go ahead and select that midpoint. Now, I'm going to come to this point, and I want an arc now. So on my draw panel, I'm going to click Arc, Start-End-Radius-Arc. I'm going to come all the way down to here. I'm going to come straight out. Notice it forms an arc. On my draw panel, I'm going to use my line button again. Now I'm going to pick this point here. Make sure you zoom in. and deliberately pick that spot. So come straight down. Zoom in, make sure you're hitting the right points. Now let's come all the way down here. And let's finish it off. Hit escape a couple of times. Let's go to a 3D view. Let's zoom in on our concrete. Looking great. Let's go back down to level 1. So, as you can see, if your levels are properly configured, foundation walls are a snap.
