Using parts for finishes

There are lots of properties available for parts on the properties pallet when you select themi In this movie, I'd like to look at a slightly unorthodox use of parts. I want to leverage the fact that we can select parts and over ride their materials to use parts as a way of indicating finishes. Now this could be used by interior designers or other designers or architects to indicate what finish an object will be but not have that be a permanent part of all the views. In other words it's almost like adding another level of detail to the view because when you consider coarse, medium, and fine. It gives us the advantage of being able to turn on and off different amounts of details depending on what scale we're viewing at. Parts kind of does the same thing when you consider parts visibility. So if we create some parts that we only want to see in certain views, then we just make sure that the other views have the show parts feature turned off we have it then set to show original and then…
