Understanding dimension types
- Dimensions in Revit are used for two very distinct purposes. We use dimensions to actually edit our model, and we also use dimensions, of course, to annotate our model. When you consider the look of your dimensions, you're usually more concerned with the annotation variety of dimensions, and when you print out a drawing that includes dimensions, you want to control the way those dimensions look. That's the main focus of the topics we'll talk about here in this movie. But you may also want to consider having a custom dimension type for the editing variety of dimensions, as well. Sometimes people will make them a different color, for example, or something like that. Let's take a look at the settings that are available for editing dimensions. I'm in a file called Dimensions, and I've just got a couple walls here on screen and a simple dimension string right here that we can use to understand what we're editing. I'll select this dimension.
