Join Paul F. Aubin for an in-depth discussion in this video Establishing shared coordinates, part of Revit Architecture 2016 Essential Training (Metric).
- In this movie, we're going to look…at establishing shared coordinates.…Shared coordinates is a process…that you can use to set up…a relationship between two files…that will be maintained…and so that those two files will know…how to link to one another in an ongoing basis.…So it can be really helpful when you have…multiple buildings on a campus…or when the linking situation…is actually complex and you want to make sure…that you maintain those relationships…as the project progresses.…It can also be really useful…when the same building is inserted…more than one time on a project site.…So I have a fairly simple example…that I want to illustrate here.…
I've got my office building open…and the site file is brought in…as a linked file, and it's been positioned.…We talked about that in the previous movie,…and I also have this small little out building…sitting over here, and that's been linked in,…and they're positioned where I want them to be.…But now what I want to do is preserve…those locations and make it possible…for the other files to link their file…

5/28/2015Paul also shows advanced techniques for modeling stairs, complex walls, and partially obscured building elements, as well as adding rooms and solid geometry. Finally, discover how to annotate your drawing so all the components are perfectly understood, and learn how to output sheets to DWF, PDF, or AutoCAD.
