Designing a roof to code

- [Instructor] In chapter four, we are looking at this thing, the roof and how we can design a roof to code. Now, before we even get to the physical properties on thermal properties of the roof, we have to consider the location of the roof. If we're building in an exposed area, maybe there's a lot of snowfall, a lot of rainfall, then that will have certain design implications on the roof. Maybe even the local authority are going to have a say in what you can and can't use for your roof. So all of those sorts of questions would need to be answered first. You might also have to use a certain type of rain screen. So, whether it be a slate tile, whether it be a concrete tile, or a clay tile, that's going to have an effect on what you can and can't use depending on the pitch the roof. Certain types of tiles just can't be used on certain pitches, the shallower the pitch, even if you've got less surface area. So in theory, less…
