Attaching columns to roofs
Sometimes, we get a little carried away with our cantilevered roofs. Although they look cool and provide cover for outdoor areas, sometimes we need a little structural help. The objective of this video is to create a cantilever in an existing roof. We will then add some dimensional wood columns into our model. We will place these columns underneath our cantilevered roof as slanted columns. We will then attach the slanted columns to the roof. To get started, let's jump into our Revit roofs file or any model you have with a roof that you want to attach columns to. In the project browser, let's go down to the roof level under Floor Plans. Go ahead and select our roof. What I want to do is Select/Edit footprint. This line right here I want to move out to 20 feet. So go ahead and select the line and instead of two feet let's type in 20 feet and hit Enter. Let's hit Escape a couple times. Once that's stretched out, go ahead and click on the Finish Edit Mode button on the Mode Panel. It…
