Apache is fairly locked down on installation. The configuration and the SELinux security policy allows it to act as a fairly common web server with ease. However if you want to do anything outside the norm you may have to manipulate SELinux Booleans and or file context. An example would be hosting the web document root on a network drive. By default SELinux will not allow this.
