- [Instructor] We won't spend a lot of time covering IP version six in this course, as this course is designed to prepare you for an exam, and not teach you technologies. We won't go into the advantages of IP version six, instead we'll focus on how to configure it, and what tools to use. There are some default settings that are already set, but we need to be aware of them just in case. The SysCTL.conf file holds a lot of setting for the kernel. We can also get them by using the SysCTL command. In a terminal, type in sysctl space dash a, space pipe, space grep, space ipv6, and hit enter. What we're most interested in is that IP version six is not disabled. We can manually configure IP version six in the ifcfg configuration files. To do so, we need add IPV6INIT equals yes to turn it on, IPV6ADDR equals followed by the address, and IPV6_DEFAULTGW equals followed by the gateway address. Changing our interface to use manually configured IP version six addresses using nmcli looks like this.…
