- Let's start by taking a quick look at some of the essential buttons and controls on your camera, and don't worry if you hear me use a term you aren't familiar with. We'll explore most of these controls in more detail later in the course. The power switch is used every time you want to turn your camera on or off. It'll also switch the camera between photo and video shooting modes. The shutter button, is what you push to actually take a photo. The mode dial controls the way that your camera functions. It's divided into two zones, basic and creative. Now, let's go to the back of the camera. Here, you'll find the bulk of the camera controls. We'll explore these in greater detail a little later. But, some of the most important ones are, press the live view shooting button, to enable live view when the power switch is set to photo mode.
