Join Matt Piper for an in-depth discussion in this video Using external MIDI instruments, part of Learning Reason 7.
Over the last several years, one of the most requested features from Reason users…to Reason developers, was the ability to send MIDI out of Reason,…to control external MIDI hardware such as synthesizers and drum machines.…In fact, it got to a point where many people had just about given…up and thought it would never happen, but as of Reason 7, it's a feature.…In fact, one of the teaser campaigns on the Propellerhead…website was an image of a pitchfork in a frozen…landscape, as in Hell has frozen over. This MIDI output…has been implemented as an external MIDI instrument in the rack.…
In addition to being able to control external MIDI hardware, I've found that…in some cases, standalone software synthesizers can be controlled as well.…So I have opened the native instruments massive demo right there.…And I see that it shows up there.…So I've selected that as the MIDI source for the external MIDI instrument.…So now I've got MIDI going out of Reason into Massive.…
But now I need to get audio out of Massive back into Reason.…
