Using compression and gates

Using compression and gates: Learning Reason 10
Using compression and gates: Learning Reason 10

Audio compression can be used as an effect, such as the popular sidechain compression effects used in electronic dance music. An audio compressor can also be used as a utility to fix problems in a mix, such as instruments jumping out from a mix due to suddenly loud transients. Compression can also be used to smooth out a vocal recording so that lyrics sung too quietly do not disappear from a mix, and lyrics sung too loudly do not overpower a mix.
