Audio engineer and music technology educator Matt Piper has been producing in, writing about, and leading clinics on using Propellerhead Reason since 2004, and in this tutorial, he demonstrates how to use the sequencer in Reason 9. Learn how to use keyboard shortcuts for quick selection of the most commonly used sequencer tools, and become familiar with the sequencer layout so that you can work quickly and efficiently in Reason 9, with unimpeded creativity.
- [Voiceover] Throughout this course,…I've been using several of the sequencer tools,…and now I'd like to take some time to dig in…and explain each of those tools to you.…So I've opened one of the demo songs,…Streetphone, by Gabriel Gassi.…Let me just drag up the sequencer here…so we have a better view.…And on the left here, we have the selection tool.…And you see the tool tip there?…It has a Q in parentheses.…That's to let us know that is a keyboard shortcut,…and in fact, the great time saving thing…that I would like to tell you is that you can select…all of those tools with QWERTY on your computer keyboard.…
So Q is the selection tool,…W, for write, is the pencil tool,…E is the eraser tool,…R is the razor tool,…T is the mute tool,…Y is the magnify tool,…and U is the hand tool.…So I'll show you what each one of these things does.…This selection tool is, as you can imagine,…in pretty much any app, you can select, drag things,…you can grab the edges,…grab level handles, those sorts of things.…
