In this video, Emmanuel Henri provides some details around where to find the exercise files and how to use them. Each video has a start and end state of the application and can be used accordingly to follow along.
- [Instructor] To get the exercise files on the course page, simply click on the tile named exercise files, then download the zip file. Then simply extract the zip file and move the folder to your desktop, like so. Once you click on the exercise files you can find pretty much all the exercise files for each chapter and let's say for example we are in chapter two, video two, and then you have the start state and the end state for that particular video. If you want to load any of them you go inside of VS Code or your code editor of choice, in my case it's Visual Code Studio, and then open folder, and let's say we are on number two like I just mentioned, 02_02, we just finished a video, you want to make sure you get all the right files, we open the end state.
And then what you need to do is basically install the dependencies 'cause right now you don't have the dependencies what we do when we put our exercise files together we try to eliminate as many files as possible so you have the bare minimum and let's go and open our integrated terminal and do npm install to install all the dependencies, like so. Once you have all the dependencies installed you can simply do npm start and run this address in your server.
So you can literally click on that link here and it will open it for you in the browser of choice but in my case it's Chrome so let's move to Firefox and then enter this address, I'll refresh, and the reason why we're waiting is because it's actually bundling and building a project in the background. So right now we have two models, three models, and there's probably a third model that's going to show up very soon in the middle and this is the project. Please keep in mind that sometimes the code isn't worth the progress and if you run npm run start or your own start the application won't run and may return an error.
This is expected and won't effect your ability to follow along.
