Installing RetroPie manually

- [Instructor] Using a prebuilt image of RetroPie is great way to get started playing games fast. However, there are advantages to building your own custom set up. The overall result is the same, but the goal is to have a better understanding of RetroPie. So if you want to perform some tweaking or reconfiguration later, you know how the pieces fit together. It also guarantees you have the latest and greatest version of every component of RetroPie. The automatic installation process isn't updated as regularly, so it might contain some older versions with fewer features. To manually install RetroPie, you have to start with a fresh Raspbian installation. You can download a system image by following the instructions at raspberrypi.org or refer to our course, Up and Running with Raspberrypi.
