- Running jumper wires from the GPIO pins to a breadboard is one way to connect electronics. But in some cases this can get messy and confusing. Instead, you can clean this up with a breakout cable, such as the PI Cobbler from Adafruit or other GPIO headers. Let's take a look at these breakout tools and see if they're helpful or hinderances. Hi, I'm Mark Niemann-Ross, and welcome to this week's edition of Raspberry Pi Weekly. Every week we explore the Raspberry Pi and share useful tips. The basic idea behind all of these breakout boards is to provide a clean connection between the Raspberry Pi GPIO and a breadboard. A ribbon cable is connected to the GPIO pins, which is connected to a breadboard. The header is labeled, so you can tell the function of each pin. When you've connected the GPIO to the breakout to the breadboard, you've got a clean way to jumper around the breadboard using male to male jumpers. Done…
