I want to know any time someone is on my porch even if I'm not home, and I want videos I can review later. I could just use Raspivid to record a looping video, but that would give me a lot of video footage to review, plus Raspivid can't alert me when someone appears on the porch. Let's start with motion detection. I could use a simple rangefinder, but since I need a camera anyhow, let's use those images to detect changes from one image to the next.
