There are two types of Shiny app: self-contained apps using the shinyApp function and split-file apps with a distinct ui.R and serverR file. The latter option is better positioned for large apps due to the improved separation of concernsm and these apps can also more easily be embedded into RMarkdown presentations or uploaded to the shinyapps.io service.
