Reactive expressions

Reactive expressions: Creating Interactive Presentations with Shiny and R
Reactive expressions: Creating Interactive Presentations with Shiny and R

Interactivity in shiny apps is drive through the concept of reactivity - objects update themselves when internal objects are "outpdated" by changes in their values, for instance an input value is modified. To prevent unnecessary updating of large expressions, for instance reloading data when a charting input variable is changed, reactive expressions are used to modularise interactivity. Note that the reactive expressions are truly objects which must be called as functions, i.e. reactive_data_variable(). Learn how to use reactive expressions to modularise interactivity and optimise your interactive shiny apps in this online video
