Deploying apps with Shiny Server

- [Instructor] Shiny Server is a fully packaged server application that you need to install in order to host Shiny apps on the platform of your choice. Currently, Shiny Server is only available on Linux, both Red Hat and Ubuntu distributions. I highly recommend consulting the Shiny Server administration guide for more information about technical requirements of the server application. There are two different versions of the Shiny Server products available, Shiny Server Open Source and Shiny Server Pro. The difference between them is quite stark. Shiny Server Open Source is free to use, but it has zero load balancing tools, zero built-in monitoring, logs or auditing, and there are zero built-in administration tools. This is compared to the Shiny Server Pro version, for which there's an annual fee. This server application has built-in tools for server administration and dashboards to keep track of Shiny app ability. Finally, Shiny Server Pro comes with built-in user authentication via LDAP, Google accounts, and more. The decision between the two comes down to a question of cost and project requirements.
