- [Instructor] Ansible was created by Michael DeHaan, the author of Cobbler, the provisioning server application and which purchased by Red Hat in 2015. It has since been integrated into Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. It's also available for CentOs, SuSE, Debian and Ubuntu and others. Ansible maintains an inventory of host to work against. It then selects portions of the this inventory which are stored in ASCII text files. This is important as they are easy to edit and can be managed with a version control systems such as Git. Any machine with Ansible utilities installed can leverage a set of files and directories to orchestrate other nodes. The absence of a central server requirements greatly simplifies disaster recovery planing. These hosts with Ansible utilities can use multiple inventory files at the same time and even pull inventory from dynamic or cloud sources even in different formats such as YAML or INI.…
