- The lattice graphics package provides us with splom, a very amusing name for scatter plot matrices. This can be a useful way to explore data, although it's a little bit idiosyncratic. Let's take a look. First, any time you're using a lattice graphics package, you need to load the library for lattice graphics. So to do that, I'll type in Library(lattice). That loads the library and makes it available for us. Let's take a quick look at what splom actually does, so I'll type in S-P-L-O-M and it's spelled exactly the way it's pronounced. The formula I'm going to use is again, a little bit odd. In this case I can just type in one tilde, followed by Chickweight. And you'll notice that unlike a normal formula, there is no value to the left of the tilde. We only have a value to the right.
