Make your data make sense

- [Barton] We live in a noisy world and trying to find meaning and direction, that is trying to find the signal in the noise, is never easy. But learning to work with data, learning to hone in on the signal, can be enormously useful in any range of things you're working on. One of the best ways to find meaningful patterns in direction and data is with R, a free open source programming language that was specifically designed for exploring and modeling data to help you find the insight you need. I'm Barton Poulson and in this course, part one of two courses on working with R, we take a look at how you can get started with R. I'll show you how to install R, the RStudio environment, and how to work with additional code packages that extend R's functionality. We'll see how to make data visualizations, how to wrangle data and adapt it to match both your questions and your chosen techniques. You don't need to have any experience with R in particular or with computer programming in general. It's helpful but not critical to have some familiarity with the basic concepts of statistical analysis. Either way, I'll explain concepts thoroughly as we go through the course. You'll see the power and the flexibility of R and how it can help you make the most of the data that's all around. Let's get started with R Essential Training, part one, Wrangling and Visualizing Data.
