- [Voiceover] New in QuarkXPress 2016 is a feature that allows you to sample colors from items in your layout. Including photos just by clicking. So let's try it out. In our exercise file we have a nice background photo with some colors that I'd like to add to my Color Palette, that way I can use those colors elsewhere. Specifically I like these reds in the pepper, the yellows in the cheese and the greens in the leaf here. So to sample them, I'll open the Colors Palette by choosing Window, Colors. And new in QuarkXPress 2016 is this area at the bottom of the Colors Palette. On the left is an Eye Dropper and I can click it to enter color picking mode. Notice that in the Tools Palette no tool is selected anymore. So how do I get back to my tools and out of color picking mode? Well I can either click on a tool in the Tools Palette, click again on the Eye Dropper, to deselect it, or I can just press the Escape key. Notice now I'm back to using the Item Tool.
