Overlay two vector layers

- [Instructor] There are many types of overlay analysis including intersection or union, which graphically combine or join vector based layers. Within QGIS there are many ways to perform these geospatial analysis. In this case, we're going to overlay buildings with parcels so that the zoning attributes of the parcels will be transferred over to the buildings. So under Vector, we have Geoprocessing Tools such as Buffer, Clip, and so on. These tools all create brand new geographic objects that may be clipped or added to from the original files. What we're going to do is take the original buildings footprints as they are without modifying them but attach attributes from the parcels according to the overlay analysis. That's a different tool. Under Data Management Tools, we have a tool called Join Attributes by Location. So let's try that now. The input layer will definitely be buildings 'cause that's what we want in the…
