Overview of face and feature detection: OpenCV for Python Developers
Overview of face and feature detection: OpenCV for Python Developers

This chapter provides an overview of different approaches to detecting features, including the classic case of detecting faces. In image processing, features are any kind of point of interest within an image. They are often recognizable, salient components that are ideally invariant to transformations, such as rotation or scaling. For example, the area of a circle may not be a feature, but an invariant shape itself might be. Detecting features is a crux of most image-processing techniques.
