What does the Deadline field do?

- In Microsoft Project sometimes we want to track a target date for a given milestone or task. We're going to double-click on task ID number six and add in a target date or deadline for this activity. So we'll type in 7/17/2015 in the deadline field on the tasks information dialogue box. A deadline acts much different than a constraint as a constraint would be as soon as possible or any of the other ones to come out of the box. We'll press 'OK'. As you can see as soon as we complete the deadline it shows up as a green arrow in our Gantt chart by default. We'll add in two more deadlines by double-clicking on task ID number 21 and putting in an August 21st deadline for this year of course. Now in this case our current finish exceeds our deadline so we get an indicator in the indicators column letting us know that that task is past our current deadline and we'll repeat that for task ID number 34.
